Your Impact

Reporting to the Senior Manager/Director, Strategic Communications, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for the provision of copy and content based on OCE’s marketing and communications priorities, policy, strategic directions and goals.  The Communications Coordinator ensures all communications meet contractual requirements including accessibility and provision in French.  The Communications Coordinator works closely with the Integrated Communications and Planning Manager, Marketing and Digital Media Manager, Media Relations Manager, Web and Digital Media Coordinator along with other internal stakeholders.

Your Contribution

  • Develop creative copy and other content for web and new media technologies.
  • Develop and implement process for identifying and tracking OCE success stories for development and use in various communications vehicles.
  • Interview entrepreneurs, industry, researchers, investors and students for news and success stories.
  • Write, produce and package stories for web, new media content and print publications, ensuring relevance, accuracy, consistency, timeliness and OCE messaging.
  • Assist Senior Manager/Director, Strategic Communications in developing communications materials (e.g. speeches, communications plans).
  • Assist in editing program guidelines and other program and administrative communication materials to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency of style.
  • Support the Editor and Editorial team and coordinate meetings and meeting minutes.
  • Maintain Editorial team materials, files and track deadlines.
  • Provide project management support to ensure all communication plans are developed, prepared and kept current to ensure all targets are met.
  • Research, recommend and enforce established style and content standards.
  • Proactively identify, recommend and implement opportunities to raise OCE’s profile and build awareness of OCE successes.
  • Act as backup for web and all digital outreach ensuring OCE meets government standards.
  • Act as backup for Media Relations Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Attributes

  • Requires formal education in marketing and/or communications (e.g. Bachelor's degree).
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience in the knowledge-based sector.
  • Exceptional writing skills with an aptitude for scientific writing in plain language.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires technical knowledge acquired through formal training or education, or equivalent experience in a PC platform using web-based software and tools, such as Microsoft Office, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others sufficient to advise on/select the optimal medium to meet project needs.
  • Proficiency with databases and web searches with ability to learn new software applications.
  • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and professionalism and ability to work well with a variety of individuals both internally and externally.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and demonstrates ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
