Your Impact
The Manager, Digital Economy Technologies Portfolio is responsible for the day-to-day execution of OCE programs within the Digital Economy Technologies portfolio which is mandated to accelerate the commercialization of next generation technologies, including 5G mobility, software defined networks, cloud-based applications, and the Internet of Things (IoT). This role will work on outward-facing program development and outreach activities with funders and projects, including funding proposal development support, and stakeholder relations. In addition, this role will work within existing financial and program administration processes and frameworks to ensure organizational efficiencies are maintained and/or maximized and that there is full alignment across OCE programs.


Your Contribution

  • Manage and implement key program components for multiple programs including partnership and proposal support. Manage application review processes including completeness of applications, application evaluation, and communications to applicants and other stakeholders.
  • Organize the external evaluations and internal executive review meetings ensuring an open and transparent process, oversee program budgets, manage the day to day delivery of the programs.
  • Apply knowledge of funding program design to program development activities, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with funding partners to ensure that key criteria and metrics are defined; organize and chair meetings to ensure that partnership expectations are addressed and program delivery executed within the appropriate framework.
  • Maintain client-facing presence with industry, funders, and partners.
  • Facilitate and present content at meetings, workshops, and events in support of the portfolio and serve as a portfolio expert resource to Business Development Operations staff, industry clients to apply to the Digital Economy Technologies portfolio.
  • Monitor individual project progress by ensuring compliance with contracted reporting requirements and by regular communications, as needed (e.g., project meetings, update calls, etc.) Develop understanding of accepted portfolio methods and processes in order to support projects as a knowledge resource. Similarly, develop and maintain a network of external Digital Economy Technologies experts/service providers to refer to project teams as needed.
  • Interface with program funders and stakeholders; work cross-functionally across departments to assemble resources; work cooperatively and collaboratively with other OCE staff (Business Development Operations, Information Systems, Finance, Programs, and MARCOM etc.).
  • Program stewardship, including program monitoring and provide metrics, outcomes, and impacts for internal strategy and external reporting.
  • Identify, develop and manage outcomes and work with MARCOM to develop success stories.
  • Execute an engagement plan including OCE outreach; capturing academic information (i.e. Principle Investigators, grants, projects, etc.); providing metrics/outcomes for internal strategy and reporting; managing review meetings; coordinating and creating awareness of other business development activities, marketing and outcomes.
  • Develop application requirements, modify program modules requirements as needed and manage the launch timelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Your Attributes

  • Formal, specialized education (4-year university degree).
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience in the development and delivery of programs and business development.
  • Familiar with the language and terminology of industry and academia, student entrepreneurship, early stage commercialization and demonstration programs.
  • A self-starter with superior project and time management skills, including planning and executing projects in order to accomplish goals within constraints such as time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Consummate professional, able to represent the organization in all circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external teams.
  • Proficiency with databases, web searches, with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Highly developed, interpretive and analytical skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with and keen interest and passion in Ontario’s industry-academic collaborations, student entrepreneurship; proficient in contracts and intellectual property matters.
  • Occasional overtime as required with occasional events to attend outside of normal business hours.
  • It is anticipated that about 70% of the work time will be spent in the office in Toronto with regular travel to other parts of Ontario (about 30% of time). Preferred location is Toronto. Candidates based in Ottawa will also be considered if they are prepared to travel frequently to Toronto.
  • Information, Communications and Technology experience is an asset.
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
